Erinne Scarborough

Erinne Scarborough hails from Knoxville, Tenn. She is University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s in Animal Science from the College of Agriculture. She moved to Charleston in 1991. While working as a groom for the City of Charleston Mounted Patrol Unit in Hampton Park, she met her husband, who was a mounted patrol officer. She has devoted her life to the ditch (and ditched) dogs on Wadmalaw and surrounding islands and any unwanteds she could get to come home with her.  Over the years, her primary focus has been in the endless pipeline of equine rescue.

Her family was enticed along for the ride. Adapting to and adopting the mindset of giving back to the creatures that in return for safety, comfort, full bellies and love give us so much more in return. She has two young adult children who are following their paths of furthering their educations. She is looking forward to adding to and continuing to be an integral part of the Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary Mission.

Holly’s Story

IMG_1046IMG_1045

A Hallie Hill volunteer was driving home from the sanctuary and spotted what she first thought was a small deer on the side of the road. After realizing it was a dog in desperate need of help, a rescue team was quickly assembled. Holly was cold, frightened and hungry.  She had been residing in the crawl space of a trailer, sleeping on fallen fiberglass insulation, and eating from a trash pile. While she was trusting enough to approach and take food, she did not want anyone touching or trying to put a leash on her painful skin.  Holly was muzzled as a precaution during the veterinary exam, but now the muzzle is off and she is a sweet girl. She is being treated for severe mange, skin infections, and malnutrition- but we feel confident she will be a beautiful and loving dog once she recovers. Please help Holly by donating today.

HHAS Receives Wells Fargo Grant!

Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary received a Community Giving grant from the Port City Branch of Wells Fargo Bank.

It was an honor to be among the many nonprofits represented as Wells Fargo generously donated to “give back to the community.”  The small Yorkshire Terrier, Kaylee represented Hallie Hill well, and accepted the check from bank manager, Jonathan Atkinson.  The money will be spent to provide medical care for the residents of the sanctuary.
