Beautiful 4 year old, 35 pound, brindle hound mix, Nancy, got to win hearts on the set of Channel 4’s Lowcountry Live.  Nancy is a shy girl, who wants a fenced in yard to enjoy (since she doesn’t walk confidently on a leash). She is spayed, micro chipped, and vaccinated- ready to join a family.  Call to schedule an appointment and mention that you are interested in Nancy, because she is in a foster home, so the “meet and greet” would need to happen there.
Brisco the Brave

Brisco the Brave

It was a Sunday morning when we received word there was a dog lying in the ditch just a few blocks away from the sanctuary.  Unsure of what to expect, we grabbed some emergency supplies and rushed out to see if we could help. His fur was the same tan color as the grass, so we almost passed right by this sweet young fellow named Brisco.  He had been hit by a car, and it was easy to see his injuries were extensive. He must have been in shock, because he did not growl or whimper as we carefully loaded him into the van to seek emergency medical care. The doctors at Charleston Veterinary Referral Center quickly examined Brisco and began treatment for his injuries including two broken legs, a partially amputated toe, and internal bleeding.  Sadly, the doctors estimated that he suffered on the roadside, wet, cold, and in pain for over 24 hours. This incredibly sweet 8 month old lab mix is now on the road to recovery.  When anyone approaches, he wags his tail showing how grateful he is to be safe, warm, and loved. Please consider donating to help pay for Brisco’s surgery and follow up medical care.   Please Donate Now

Holly’s Story

A Hallie Hill volunteer was driving home from the sanctuary and spotted what she first thought was a small deer on the side of the road. After realizing it was a dog in desperate need of help, a rescue team was quickly assembled. Holly was cold, frightened and hungry.  She had been residing in the crawl space of a trailer, sleeping on fallen fiberglass insulation, and eating from a trash pile. While she was trusting enough to approach and take food, she did not want anyone touching or trying to put a leash on her painful skin.  Holly was muzzled as a precaution during the veterinary exam, but now the muzzle is off and she is a sweet girl. She is being treated for severe mange, skin infections, and malnutrition- but we feel confident she will be a beautiful and loving dog once she recovers. Please help Holly by donating today.
