The Cat Corner: Excitement Builds for the New Cattery at Hallie Hill

If you’ve been following Hallie Hill’s updates, you’ve probably been wondering the same thing we have: when will the new Cattery open?

Well, the answer is… soon! The finishing touches are coming together, and everyone at the Sanctuary is buzzing with excitement to welcome our feline friends into their beautiful new space.

The new Cattery will give cats a bright, comfortable, and enriching environment where they can play, relax, and soak up plenty of sunshine while waiting for their forever homes. From cozy beds and climbing structures to plenty of windows for bird-watching, every detail is designed with our cats’ happiness and well-being in mind.

While we count down the days, there’s still an opportunity for you to lend a hand. The Sanctuary continues to collect items from the Amazon Wish List to help stock the Cattery with everything from toys and scratching posts to cleaning supplies. Every purchase helps make the new space feel like home from day one.

Hallie Hill and PETSinc Offer an Affordable Mobile Vet Clinic on Thursday, October 16

Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary and PETSinc have partnered to help the community receive affordable veterinary care for their pets. This low-cost mobile veterinary clinic allows community members to bring in their pets for vaccines, spaying and neutering, other wellness necessities, and elective services such as microchipping, nail trims, and ear cleanings.

Getting your furry family members the care they need shouldn’t be unattainable. That is why Hallie Hill and PETSinc offer low-cost services to those in need. So far, we have completed seven mobile clinic days and performed over 93 spay/neuter surgeries and more than 81 wellness visits! By bringing your pet to receive care on one of our mobile clinic days, you will be improving their quality of life.

The next opportunity is on the Hallie Hill campus and will occur on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We do not require an appointment for wellness exams, but an appointment is required for spay and neuter services, as they are in high demand.

Hallie Hill’s September Celebration is Going on Now through the End of September

September is a special month at Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary. It’s a time to reflect on the animals who have touched our lives, honor the ones with us today, and ensure that future animals in need will always have a safe place to call home. This year, we’re inviting you to be part of our September Celebration, a fundraiser that’s as heartwarming as it is impactful.

We’ve compiled a list of 250 incredible animals, each with its unique story and personality. When you celebrate an animal, you’re making a direct difference in the lives of all the animals at Hallie Hill, present and future. You can select one or more animals from the list and donate between $1 and $250 in their honor. Every dollar raised goes straight to our animals’ daily care, food, and medical needs. The list is randomized, so no animal is ranked above another.

As a thank you for your donation, you’ll receive a personalized certificate recognizing your contribution and the furry friend(s) you’ve chosen to celebrate. It’s a small reminder of the big impact you’re making.

Clear the Shelters: August 1- 31, 2025

This year, NBCUniversal Local is teaming up with hundreds of shelters across the country, including Hallie Hill, to host the Clear the Shelters campaign. Since 2015, this nationwide pet adoption campaign has given more than one million pets their forever homes.

Instead of adoption, The Black Dog launched a Clear The Shelters merchandise collection. They will donate 100% of the profits from the limited-edition merchandise collection to the Clear The Shelters fund. This collection includes merchandise for pet lovers and their dogs!

If you’re looking to add a goofy and sweet companion to your life, Hallie Hill is hosting our Clear The Shelters open house event on August 23 and 24 from 10 AM to 2 PM. We want to showcase our deserving residents in hopes of finding them their forever homes.

Dog Safety Education Classes for Kids

The Charleston Exchange Club has granted Hallie Hill funds for a new indoor classroom for dog safety education classes for kids. These classes will be geared to students aged 5-12 and focus on proper and safe dog interactions. We have conducted similar workshops in schools in the past. This grant will allow us to have classes onsite at the Sanctuary, and provide funding for informative materials and lessons.
